Pictured above is Jim Farrell and on the right Jim is with his wife Melinda. Together with Jim’s son Tripp and several dedicated employees, they have built Blastcrete Equipment Company. Their mission has been to build the “highest quality, lowest cost, most versatile, simple and safe pumps on the market. That is a lot to say but they have accomplished exactly that.

We have owned several of the Blastcrete peristaltic pumps. Including the 2”, 2.5″ and 3″ squeeze pumps. These have been the most versatile pumps we have owned. In one case, we even used our squeeze pump to help remove the water out of a flooded building! The only consumable on the pump is the squeeze tube. If it wears, you simply replace the tube and you have a pump that is just like new.

Before becoming CEO of Blastcrete equipment Company in Alabama, Jim Farrell had learned the concrete and refractory business while working with CE Refactories in Alabama. Blastcrete has carved a special niche in the pumping industry by manufacturing the easiest to use, easiest to maintain concrete pumps made. In addition to engineering rock solid pumps, they maintain a training and customer service facility that is unmatched. If a customer wants to learn about spraying concrete they can actually try the equipment they are considering at the Blastcrete headquarters.

Blastcrete Equipment Co. was established in 1950 by Jim Douglas as a manufacturer of single and double chamber gunite machines and the factory was located on East Slauson Ave. in Los Angeles. The Blastcrete Guns were sold as refractory guns and cement guns for pools and slope stabilization. Douglas established a cooperation with Donoho Clay Co. in Anniston, AL and helped Donoho promote its refractory gunning clay that Donoho called Blastpatch. Blastpatch continues on the market today as a product of Riverside Refractories in Pell City, AL. Donoho sold its product line to Riverside in 1995. In 1983 The Farrell’s took the reins of the Blastcrete company and built it into the wonderful company it is today. 2010 marks the 60th year that Blastcrete Equipment Company has been manufacturing quality products.
